Church Scavenger Hunt
The game that turns a church building into somewhere worth exploring.
Hand out the sheets and a pencil. Every line is something to find — a hymn book, a
stained glass window, something that smells nice, the word ‘Jesus’ written somewhere.
Tick them off as you go.
Thirty-two things in total. Some are obvious, some take a proper look around, and a
few will start an argument about whether that counts.
WHY IT WORKS
Kids know the church building from one seat, facing one direction. This gets them
looking at it properly — at the woodwork, the windows, the things that have been there
longer than anyone in the room.
It also fills an hour with almost no preparation. Print, hand out, done. Works for one
child or a whole Sunday school class, and it works in any church building because the
list mixes specific things with open ones like “something soft” and “something really
old.”
TWO DESIGNS
The same 32 items, in two styles. One is soft watercolour, calmer and a bit more
grown-up. The other is bright and cartoon, made for younger children. Print whichever
fits your group — both are in the download.
AND A BONUS FOR THE LITTLEST SCAVENGER HUNTERS
There’s a third sheet in there for children who can’t read yet: 16 picture squares
with the word underneath. A bible, a bell, a candle, a pew. They hunt alongside
everyone else instead of watching from a chair.
WHAT YOU GET
– 32-item scavenger hunt in two designs
– Two layouts per design: 1 per page and 2 per page
– Bonus picture sheet with 16 squares for pre-readers
– Print-ready PDF
HOW IT WORKS
1. Buy it. The download link is on your screen right away and in your inbox a minute
later. No waiting, no shipping.
2. Print one sheet per child. Regular paper is fine, or 2 per page to save it.
3. Hand out pencils and set them loose.
4. Go through the list together afterwards. That’s where the good questions come from.
Print as many copies as you need, as often as you like. The file is yours to keep, so
you can run it again next term.
GOOD FOR
Sunday school, children’s church, vacation bible school, youth groups, homeschool
church visits, first communion classes, and any Sunday where the sermon runs long.
Works with one child or thirty.
